A

Answer: B. He was forcibly removed from praying at the altar rail at his former place of worship.

The African Methodist Episcopal Church is an independent denomination founded by black people. The main reason why this denomination was established was as a result of the segregation against black that existed in the Methodist Episcopal Church in the late 1700s and early 1800s. To escape this discrimination and make the church a welcoming place for all races, the AME was founded and it became the first church established for this reason and not theological distinctions. Richard Allen, a black preacher of the Christian gospel was permitted to minister only to black congregations. Also, blacks sat in different galleries when their population increased. With this, Richard Allen led a group to form a Methodist church for all races.
